About me
Who am I?
Name: Dan Kenna
Age: 35 years old
Gender: Male
Nationality: British
Occupation: Teacher
Myers Briggs Type Indicator: INFP
Where am I from?
I was born in Watford in England. Moved to London at 28 years old. Travelled throughout South East Asia at 33 years old. Now I live in Ho Chi Minh City.
What’s my story?
Since I was young, I’ve wondered what life is all about. Why did some people know what was going on, when I had no clue? I remember in primary school, looking at the ‘confident kids’ and thinking, “what do they know that I don’t?”
I wasn’t a confident kid in school, and didn’t know what life was about; I wanted a book that could tell me all the answers. When I first came across self-improvement books, at about 24 years old, it was like someone had given me the book I had always wanted (or at least part of it). The first ones I read were ‘Unlimited Power’ by Tony Robbins and ‘The 7 habits of highly effective people’ by Stephen Coney.
I took the teachings from these books on board, and have been on a journey of self-discovery and personal improvement ever since. This blog is the next step on my journey.
What am I writing about?
I am writing about personal and professional development topics that can help us be more successful and happier. The blogs will be focused around these topics, and I will be using a mix of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Business Analyst techniques, “spirituality”, and other ideas from self-development world, to analyse and frame my posts.
I will attempt to make my ideas as clear as possible, writing from my own experience. I can’t claim to be an expert in these topics, I do not have a degree in psychology, but I have lived and breathed the topics I will be writing about.
My aim is to provide ideas and exercises that will be of value to you. Take from it what’s useful to you.
Why I am writing this blog?
To learn: One motivation is to learn, I hope by sharing my ideas, I will learn more about them. I will do extra research for each, gaining a deeper understanding of this field. Writing about the topics also helps crystallise my ideas.
To share: I want to help other people learn from my writings and develop their lives. There are lots of self-development blogs out there, but I hope my take and the way I lay out the ideas can help some people.
To challenge myself: Just to see if I can do it. Putting part of myself out in public, being open to criticism. Spending the time and effort to write the blog. Can I actually do it?
To grow my network: You’ll see on this webpage links to my training and coaching, I hope by writing about my ideas, it will showcase what my training and coaching is all about. And open doors to new experiences and people.
For fun: I’m hoping it might actually be fun as well!
What are my credentials?
I have been reading, analysing and practising self-development consistently for over 10 years. I am a certified NLP Master Practitioner and NLP Trainer. I have attended many different types of communication and meditation courses and events.
I was a reasonably successful Business Analyst, in London for 7 years, from which I have acquired a number of analytical skills and process improvement techniques. I have become happier and been more successful in achieving my goals in this time. I have travel and experienced different cultures and experiences, throughout South East Asia.
I did my NLP training with NLP Dynamics, and highly recommend them to anyone in London (or close by).
